We’ve gone from thermal clothing to sun cream today, within three weeks of each other. Weather forecast was correct giving light wind, blue sky and continuous hot sunshine.
Sixteen boats raced today, starting in drifting conditions rising at times to about 5 mph . A coalition of Peter and Cliff acted as race officer (s) and set a simple anti clockwise short course initially of one lap which was extended to two laps when the wind increased. A mixed fleet of Dragons, Affinity’s, Graupners, Micro Magic, Fiesta and Johns 3D Boat all with different characteristics swapped positions and lead many times.
To help newcomers a staggered start allowed them to start 20 seconds earlier giving them a taste for being in front and winning several races …so well done. Racing was sometimes mixed, very interesting and crowded at marks keeping everyone on their toes to try to gain on buoy manoeuvring and positions .
Thanks must go to Garry, Paul and especially Brian for repairing the rescue boat in time for the Footie open meeting on Saturday 9th of March …so good luck to our chairman David a well known Footie sailor .
An impromptu informal bankside discussion was held to get views on revised race start times.
Barbara as usual kept us in order and logged scores together with providing biscuits so thanks again. Importantly Barbara may be able to get experts to the club for tuning, together with planning a couple of fun social events in the future.
