4th July 2018 @ CMYC

Evening Everyone,

Following Wednesday’s “Small Yacht”  Paul B sent me a report and a copy of the score sheet but I have only had a brief look at things and had hoped to complete things this evening but things have not worked out that way so here is a copy of Paul B’s report (unedited)

We had somewhere around 15 people at the lake today mostly with small boats for the series. The most numerous was the DF65 with 3 or 4 new faces from the CSC although not all were racing. Affinity, Fiesta, Graupner RG 65, Manta RG65 and a footy.
As always there were plenty of helping hands for newcomers in setting up boats and fine tuning.
As always the weed remained a problem and together with the light to non existent winds made for some interesting sailing.

John T seems to have had a great day but his good performance meant the discard of 8pts against 11pts or 12pts of those around him saw him slide down the results list.

1st – 59 (Paul B) – 17pts

2nd – 93 (Steve) – 18pts

3rd – 14 (John T) – 19pts

4th – 70 (Barry) – 20pts

5th – 7 (Peter P) – 37pts

6th – 133 (Roger P) – 43pts

7th – 46 (David W) – 52pts

8th – D ? – 58pts

9th – GR (Guy ?) – 64pts

10th – TW ? – having only sailed in 5 of the 10 races.

Several of the new skippers made great progress and were beginning to challenge for the mid order finishes at times.

There was a general consensus that we need a working party, probably on a thursday, to tackle the weed overgrowth with the 2 weed rakes we now have proved. Suggest next week.
I’ll send over the results sheet for your examination.

There was a real buzz at the lakeside today and we had several people watching intently at several times.

Tuesday, sees the CSC holding a “wake” for one of its members so if you attend the lake you may find parking a little tricky.

Wednesday sees the next in the IOM series and the forecast is still looking good so hopefully a good turn out.

I have been reminded that this weekend will see the “Fairford” air show (RIAT) in full swing so some traffic delays could be seen but I have been informed by some locals that the impact on the A419 is very limited these days. So if the weed or light winds start to cause issues, we will have to relocate to the CSC “camping area” and watch the aerial displays instead or have a weeding session instead.

Enjoy Wednesday’s IOM event and all being well I’ll see some of you on Saturday to clear some of this dust.

Kevin.
