S3 IOM 19

Eight keen sailors made it to sail today in generally a force 2 wind that dropped to less than zero (due the change of direction).
Thanks to Paul for getting to the lake very early to set out the buoys in bright hot sunshine. Derek turned up later just before the start, in time to get soaked with the rest, when it poured down.
Racing started in a good breeze and an anti clockwise figure of eight course of two laps which were fought over, Gordon after his earlier boat tuning by Paul showed us a clean pair of heels in the first race.
The remaining races were won by various sailors and congratulations go to Garry for his runaway victory in a race.
The wind died completely for the last race and only one lap was sailed after a delay, when Gordon’s boat developed problems which Roger tried to solve.
Sadly the buoys caught Garry to become stuck and Kevin kindly rowed out to remove it. Paul had dropped his boat before the racing, which caused his rudder to be off centre so was a bit off his usual pace, several boats also suffered from weed.
Good wishes must go to poor Cliff who’s sprained his ankle and broke his foot.
Edward kindly kept the scores in Barbara’s absence. Despite the rain everyone enjoyed the days racing which after a pep talk on the bank was sailed in a very clean way, with penalty turns being judicial
