S2 IOM 19

After the early mist cleared, the sun arrived and the temperature increased to provide a lovely warm day.
The forecast was for North East to East wind of between 6 to 8 kts but at the start of the event it was more like 1 to 2, although as the afternoon progressed the wind arrived as forecast and 13 races were completed of
either 2 laps; or 1 lap when the wind was lighter.
Eight skippers arrived for the day’s event; a little more time was required to set the buoys, thanks to John and Garry for performing that task. John initially set a triangular first course for a North Easterly start, but
after five races the wind picked up and the course was re-set to a more lozenge shape, to cater for the Easterly wind shift.
A lot of race position changes occurred throughout the event, with 5 skippers having at least 1 win. Congratulations to John for overall winner of the day.
Thanks to Barbara and Edward for recording the results.
Racing concluded at 4pm, but some skippers remained to take advantage of the super sailing conditions, to get in a little pacing practice.
Last skipper left the lake at around 6pm.
Another great day’s sailing,
Roger
