IOM 25 July

The day started off at around 1015 and slowly a total of 8 people turned up. Guy and his grandson spent some time sailing the DF65 and avoiding the weed to the sw of the sailing area.

The 6 IOMs started racing at 1pm and completed 12  two lap races in very variable wind from the SSW round to the WNW and with various back eddys close to shore it was anyone’s race to win and in several races the lead changed several times. John was the eventual winner by some margin and the following pack was separated by just a few points. Garry had a notable 3rd place and was frequently sailing up with the fleet so well done there.

Holidays and heat are having an affect on numbers, at the moment, but members are still attending and making the most of things which is good to see after so many years with the club struggling.

Other local clubs are also struggling, at the moment, with low water levels and cancelled events so the fact that boats are actually on the water @ CMYC is a good advert for the facility especially if we can get to grips with the weed issues.

The MYA “A” class captain has been in contact, to see if CMYC would like to host an event in 2019. Is we are still in a period of developing itself and the links with CSC, I have said no for 2019 but will consider 2020. I assume the other class captains will be in contact as they start to get their 2019 calendars together.
