CMYC Small Yacht Series S6, 19th June 2019

Ten sailors raced today which was sadly spoiled when Paul turned up early to find the caravan had been vandalised. After a quick couple of phone calls to Barry and Garry temporary boards were delivered to replace the damaged door which Garry is now is going to repair.
Cliff had his arm bent to be race officer of the day and set a short clockwise course in the very light wind and racing got underway at 1pm.
The new pull rope system Paul had modified proved excellent and the racing buoys were pulled out into the lake partly avoiding the need to use the dinghy to set the race course.
It was agreed due to the very light drifting winds that if a boat touched any buoys then it wasn’t necessary to re-round and single laps were started .
A good and welcome return to both Kevin and Ben who both did well and sailed fast , Edward improved vastly through the day and together with Garry showed many a clean pair of heals overtaking many on the
last leg of the course. Peter’s red Dragon seems to be on fire and mixing it at the front of the fleet.
Twelve races were undertaken with a couple of delays whilst weed encrusted boats were retrieved.
Later a committee meeting was held in the main clubhouse.
The first weed clearing is planned for 20th June and volunteers are welcomed, due to the amount of weed a second weed clearing day will be held in the near future so if you can make any day or ideally both please
do.
