CMYC IOM Series S5 29th May 2019

Seven hardy souls turned out despite the forecast for heavy rain showers.
Fortunately, although we did have some drizzly showers it was not as bad as expected, and towards the end of the session it had dried completely. The bonus was a steady brisk breeze from the SSW, well within the capabilities of the ‘A’ suits.
The course was set out by Roger and Gordon, under the direction of Peter which proved most suitable for the conditions.
Roger was elected OOD for the day and did a Stirling job, as well as winning the majority of races!
Edward has taken ownership of AB2 – 160, and jumped in at the deep end competing with it for the first time, only having had half an hour’s practice before racing commenced. Often showing some of the fleet a clean pair of heels to the windward mark and beyond, only to lose position due to control mistakes when coming towards himself. With a little more stick time he will be a force to be reckoned with, he commented it was a lot easier and more comfortable to sail than his DF65.
Twelve races were completed, all of two laps except the last race which was a three lap finale.
The three lapper was won by a very fast ‘Malteser’ !! .
Wins were taken by various skippers during the day, and a friendly sporting competition was enjoyed by all.
Thanks again to Barbara for scoring and Roger for being OOD and producing the results.
