24th February 2018 @ CMYC

Evening Gents.
For those, who chose to brave the chilly Easterly breeze, an exciting day of sailing was the reward. 7 members and a guest, started to arrive around 10:30am and duly set up their chosen yacht. There was a good mix of craft, from a 10rater, to a Marblehead, to 5 – IOMs and an RG65.
Initially set up with “A” rigs and having some rapid fun, it was decided to change to a smaller rig for the rest of the day. “Hats off” to Ben, at this point, as the Marblehead’s “B rig was not performing correctly so he decided to change back to “A” rig.

A very well managed performance was shown until the gusts picked up enough to force a retirement. Slowly the chill got the better of some so a retreat to the car was needed and hopefully get warm on the rive home. Some realised that “designer” clothing with holes and rips were not the best sailing wear in the colder seasons.

The final brave soles departed around 5pm, as the sun dropped in the sky and the cold started to bit. All would agree, a well worth day sailing and a good way to promote the club.

2 weeks time will see the “Mad March Hare” footy event so we will try and set another Saturday “Social” sail after that.

Wednesday will see the club’s next Sailing day, for those who can make it.

Kind Regards
