The day started a little overcast but brightened up into a perfect day for sailing. Winds from the SW to W and about 8-10 knts provided the backdrop for the first of our Winter Series for IOM.
After a brief weed clean up by boat racing started at 1pm. The days race officer was John Taylor (winner of the IOM summer series) and with results recorded by Barbara – thank you to both.
Initially the races were held on an anticlockwise rectangle over 2 laps. Racing was remarkably close and what is interesting is that there are far fewer infringements and the sailing was friendly and competitive. After a coffee break John decided to ring the changes and ran a few longer and equally testing courses using more distant marks. What was very interesting was the impressive downwind speed of the 2 newest boats, both Kantuns.
